Tickets for Yo-Yo Ma's DePauw Concert Available August 29

68508August 9, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Beginning August 29, a limited number of individual tickets will be available for world-renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma's concert at DePauw University on Friday, September 30, at 6 p.m.

Accompanied by 28 members of the Chicago Civic Orchestra, Yo-Yo Ma will perform in Kresge Auditorium of the Judson and Joyce Green Center for the Performing Arts (605 S. College Avenue) as part of DePauw Discourse 2011: Empowering Society Through the Arts.

DePauw Discourse, scheduled September 29 - October 1, features a number of distinguished alumni and guests leading performances, exhibits and conversations that celebrate the arts and explore the arts’ vital community role in sparking creativity, innovation, self-expression and dialogue. DePauw Discourse registration, which began July 15, includes access to all events, including the Yo-Yo Ma concert, and is available by clicking here.

Beginning August 29, tickets for the Friday concert will also be sold separately and distributed as follows: 90147

  • DePauw students – A limited number of tickets will be available, at no charge with a limit of one per student, at the office of the DePauw University School of Music (Green Center for the Performing Arts, room 1124) between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Students must claim a free ticket by 3 p.m. on September 7. After this time, student tickets will no longer be available. Student tickets may only be used by DePauw students; a valid DePauw student ID will be required along with student tickets to gain admission to the concert. Students must arrive by 5:45 p.m. on the day of the event; student tickets will not be accepted for entrance after this time.
  • DePauw faculty and staff – A limited number of $10 tickets will be available (limited to two per person) at the DePauw University School of Music Box Office between noon and 4 p.m. through September 7. After this date, faculty/staff tickets will no longer be available. (Faculty and staff must claim tickets in person at the box office and present a valid DePauw faculty/staff ID at time of purchase; no phone or e-mail reservations will be accepted).
  • DePauw alumni, parents and the general public – A limited number of $20 tickets will be available online via a link from the DePauw home page as well as at the School of Music Box Office from noon to 4 p.m. or by calling (765) 658-4827; no e-mail reservations will be accepted.

In the unlikely event there are still tickets available on the day of the concert, that will be noted on this site, and the 90891tickets will be sold at the door for $30. Overflow seating will be available at no charge in the Green Center's Moore Theatre, where a closed circuit television feed of the concert will be presented.

Yo-Yo Ma will also deliver a lecture, “Reflections on a Life in Music: An Evening with Yo-Yo Ma,” at DePauw on Thursday, September 29, at 8 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium. There will be no charge for admission to the lecture. A television feed of the lecture will also be presented in Moore Theatre for overflow seating.

Currently the Judson and Joyce Green Creative Consultant for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Yo-Yo Ma has had a multi-faceted career that reflects a quest to find new ways to connect with audiences and support artistic growth and renewal. He is a multiple Grammy Award-winning cellist, whose eclectic repertoire represents a unique variety of musical forms and cultures. Ma was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom on February 15, 2011.
