September 12, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — L. Penfield Faber, a 1952 graduate of DePauw University, "recently presented a $10,000 donation for the athletic stadium to Mendota High School in honor of his teammates in the class of 1948," reports the News Tribune of La Salle, Illinois. "The teammates played every sport together at the school before he graduated and went on to play football for DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind."
The item continues, "Following his football career at DePauw, Faber went on to earn his medical degree from Northwestern University. He practiced medicine from 1963-06 and is currently professor emeritus in the department of cardiovascular-thoracic surgery at Rush University Medical Center. He recently received the DePauw University Alumni Achievement award for professional achievement."
