September 30, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — A story previewing the October 6 opening of I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road at the Camelot Theater in Talent, Oregon, points out that the musical's creators, Gretchen Cryer and Nancy Ford, "met at DePauw University in Indiana and eventually became the only female composer-lyricist team in New York theater. The Mail Tribune of Southern Oregon reports that I'm Getting My Act Together "was first produced by Joseph Papp in 1978 at the 
Public Theater in New York City. It was such a hit that it was moved to the Circle in the Square Theatre in Greenwich Village and ran for almost 1,200 performances. Set during the feminist movement of the '70s, the show attracted such stars at Betty Buckley, Carol Hall, Virginia Vestoff and Phyllis Newman to play the lead role ... [It] was produced in 1981 in London's West End and, eventually, around the world. It was recorded in five languages."
