October 3, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — "Putnam County Public Library, with the assistance of Dr. Mary Kertzman, professor of physics and astronomy at DePauw University, will participate in International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, Oct. 8," reports Greencastle's Banner-Graphic. "Starting at 6 p.m., a variety of activities for people of all ages will be offered. International Observe the Moon Night is a worldwide celebration of our nearest neighbor, the moon."
At 7:30 p.m. in the library's Kiwanis Room, Dr. Kertzman will offer a presentation on lunar exploration. From 8 to 9:30 p.m., DePauw's McKim Observatory will be open for viewing the moon.
