November 1, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Dan Hasler, Indiana secretary of commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, will be among the presenters at a November 18 seminar in Winona Lake, Indiana. Titled "Powering Life Sciences Entrepreneurship in Indiana," the event is part of the Indiana Life Sciences Collaboration Conference Series.
Hasler, a 1980 graduate of DePauw University, was named commerce secretary in September after an extensive 31-year career at global pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly and Co.
According to Inside Indiana Business, "Hasler and other representatives from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. will explain the new Elevate Indiana initiative. Participants will leave with a better appreciation of the state of entrepreneurship in Indiana's life sciences economy and insights into the opportunities that exist for their organizations to play a role."
"This conference will examine existing and emerging mechanisms to maintain and increase the momentum that has been building," says George Telthorst, director of the Center for the Business of Life Sciences (CBLS) in Indiana University's Kelley School of Business. "Speakers and panelists representing funders, business advisors and entrepreneurs will discuss Indiana's progress and the obstacles that still exist to greater activity."
