November 3, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — A Carrie Newcomer song which features a performance by Sandy Williams, adjunct instructor of music at DePauw University, on electric guitar, is included in the new box set, The Rounder Records Story. The song, "Only One Shoe", was originally recorded for Newcomer's An Angel at My Shoulder album, which was released in 1994.
A synopsis of the 4-CD set notes, "For forty years, Rounder Records has been on a singular mission to record the magnificent range of American roots music styles -- bluegrass, New Orleans R&B, old time fiddling, singer-songwriter, blues, country, rockabilly, roots rock, Cajun and a few that cross enough boundaries to be genres of their own. Williams, who has taught at DePauw since 1996, has also recorded with Donovan, Sandi Patti, Bill Gaither and John Mellencamp. He has also performed at workshops with internationally-known jazz drummers Steve Smiths (of Steps Ahead), Chester Thompson (from Weather Report), and Will Kennedy (from the Yellowjackets).
