November 13, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Jessica Beeson Tocco, a 2006 graduate of DePauw University, has joined Rasky Baerlein Strategic Communications as associate vice president of public affairs. "In her new position, Tocco will service clients at both the state and federal level, by creating legislative strategies and securing opportunities for government grant and loan programs," notes an announcement. "Tocco has more than ten years of experience working with federal, state, and international governments."
"Our clients in both Boston and Washington will benefit greatly from Jessica’s background, her insights, her expertise, and her capabilities," says Joe Baerlein, president of the public relations firm. "She is a skilled and valuable addition to our public affairs practice group."
Rocco comes to her new post from the Massachusetts-based Implant Sciences, where she was director of global governmental relations. She has also served as a legislative associate at BGR Group, as an assistant to U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez, and as director of the United States Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam, overseeing lobbying efforts for the Asia Pacific Council of American Chambers, assisting Asian-based U.S. companies shape policies and coordinate lobbying efforts in order to promote U.S. exports.
As a student at DePauw, she interned for Karl Rove, then the senior adviser to the President of the United States, and was state chairman of the Indiana College Republicans and later served as the national co-chair of College Republicans.
