June 23, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Shannon Hammel, a 1995 graduate of DePauw University, has joined NBC-owned WMAQ in Chicago as assistant news director. She comes to the Windy City from Dallas where she was managing editor at NBC affiliate KXAS-TV for the last five years and was executive producer prior to that.
Hammel's resume also includes stints at WCMH in Columbus, Ohio, and WILX, located in Lansing, Michigan.
Shannon Harris Hammel was an economics and political science double major at DePauw.
