November 17, 2011, Greencastle, Ind. — Judy Castellini, a 1981 graduate of DePauw University, has been appointed chair of the Hadley School for the Blind. Castellini has served as a member of the organization's board since 1996 and has been a trustee since 2006.
Located in Winnetka, Illinois, and founded in 1920, the Hadley School's mission is to promote independent living through lifelong, distance education programs for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, their families and blindness service providers.
"For 30 years, a family member has battled a serious visual impairment, facing countless eye procedures," Castellini notes. "During these recurring episodes, I developed a heightened awareness of the importance of personal independence for those experiencing vision loss and their families. So when I was asked by friends to get involved with Hadley, I knew this organization’s mission was something my husband and I wanted to support long-term."
A member of DePauw's Board of Visitors, Judy (Banker) Castellini has served on the women's boards of the Ravinia Festival and the Art Institute of Chicago.
